BIO

Dr. Kathleen C. Braddy is a cardiologist at Essentia Health St. Mary's-Heart & Vascular Center in Duluth, MN.  She has been a part of the Essentia's Heart & Vascular Center since 2004.

Dr. Braddy appreciates and enjoys getting to know her patients.  She likes learning about patients’ daily lives, their family and friends, their activities and passions. “I think a big part of helping someone feel better is to identify what they like about how they are living and what they want to change.”

Dr. Braddy stresses to all her patients that simple changes, like walking more or eating less make a difference.  “We each can decrease our cardiovascular risk by walking 5 more minutes or losing just a few pounds.”   It is her hope to be able to reach more people to start the conversation about identifying heart disease risk factors. By partnering with the American Heart Association and the Go Red For Women community, Dr. Braddy believes that she can make a difference by getting the message out that heart disease is preventable and treatable.

Dr. Braddy has special interests in women’s heart disease, the prevention of cardiovascular disease, the treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus, and the effect of stress reduction on heart disease.   Dr. Braddy is involved in community education through local schools, businesses and churches.  She is excited to expand community education opportunities through partnership with the American Heart Association.

Dr. Braddy received her medical degree from the University of Colorado. She completed her residency at the University of Iowa and two fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology also at the University of Iowa. She is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.

Dr. Braddy is married and has one daughter. She and her family enjoy being outdoors and like to sail, hike, bike and Nordic ski.
